In "Orange crush on Yuschenko at Ukrainian Museum visit," Jefferson Siegel describes the Ukrainain president's visit to the East Village's Ukrainian Museum on 16 September.
Yushchenko was in town for the United Nations General Assembly. His schedule also included an appearance at the founding dinner of the Orange Circle Foundation. He also intended to visit the East Village's St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church on East 7th Street, but that was cancelled.
The crowd of mostly Ukrainian Americans were excited to see him at the museum, despite the fact he was several hours late. Many in the crowd wore traditional Ukrainian dress, including students from the St. George school, across East 6th Street from the museum.
