Carpatho-Rusyn Day Parade...?

Last week, a group calling themselves the Andi Warholas were "blurring the Line Between Consumptive Art and Consumption of Art" by staging their own Andy Warhol Sunday Stroll.

Warhol is best known as the father of Pop Art and a consumate New Yorker, but he is also the most famous Carpatho-Rusyn of all time.

The connection was featured in the 1997 book Andy Warhol's Religious and Ethnic Roots: The Carpatho-Rusyn Influence on His Art, but more important than the Rusyn infuence on Warhol has been Warhol's influence on the Rusyns. The link will be celebrated later this summer, when the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh hosts its ninth annual Carpatho-Rusyn Event on 29 July.
