East Village Update: Kiev goes Greek, Molode Zhyttia closes

Ok, so we reported before that Kiev (117 Second Avenue at 7th Street) had closed, but it turned out it only stopped serving food and had become something of a lounge bar. But that's all over now. On Saturday, Slavs of New York happened by extensive rennovations - the entire interior has been gutted and the facade is boarded up.

According to an older Ukrainian gentleman who lives in the area, the site is to become a Greek restaurant now, but will retain the name Kiev. Email Slavs of New York if you have any more information.

Meanwhile down the block, the small Ukrainian gift shop Molode Zhyttia (308 East Ninth Street) has closed, according to the counter guy at Veselka.
